About Memphis Neurology |
Memphis Neurology is a multipractitioner group unique in the
Mid-South in that patients are cared for from infancy through
adulthood. The practice opened in the early 1970’s as Pediatric
Neurology at LeBonheur Hospital on Adams Avenue where
periodically over the ensuing decades was the only pediatric
neurology provider in the tri-state area.
Pediatric Neurology
was the first practice in the area to provide care in the
outlying communities, opening satellite offices in Paragould,
West Memphis, Tupelo and Jackson, Tennessee, as far back as the
mid-70’s. Prior to that Dr. J.T. Jabbour and Dr. Robert M. Boehm
two of the founding partners, traveled as far as the tri-city
area of East Tennessee (Johnson City, Bristol and Kingsport),
Greenville and New Albany, MS to treat children in need of
neurologic care. While the practice still maintains an office at
the Physicians’ Office Building at LeBonheur, the main office is
now located at 7645 Wolf River Circle in Germantown, with a
third facility in Southaven. Satellite offices are still located
in Jackson, West Memphis, and Tupelo with a new Tipton County
site in Brighton.
As in the past children are still treated for
conditions such as headaches, seizures, developmental delay,
autism, learning disorders, and attention deficit. In the past
decade an adult division has been added to the practice treating
those suffering from dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s,
strokes, seizures, and migraine headaches.
The practice is
equipped with a neurodiagnostic lab that offers services
benefiting both patients and other healthcare professionals.
EEG’s are performed at most locations and EEG video monitoring
is provided at the Germantown office with plans to open
additional EMU rooms at the Southaven office in late 2009. Botox
injections for muscle spasticity and cervical dystonia are
available at the Germantown location. For patients with seizures
that are difficult to control through medication alone, the
option of a vagal nerve stimulator, placed by a surgeon, is
available. The physicians at Memphis Neurology then monitor and
adjust the VNS as necessary as part of an overall comprehensive
seizure monitoring and care program.
Drs. Jabbour, Eastmead,
Lynn and Natarajan and Nurse Practitioner Laura Porch provide
pediatric patient care at all locations. To assure continuity of
care, Drs. Natarajan, Sonone and NP Porch see adult patients at
the Germantown and Southaven offices as well as the Tupelo and
Brighton satellites. With multiple offices and a wide array of
patient care services Memphis Neurology strives to provide both
convenient and comprehensive neurologic care for patients of all
ages.
